Alasan kerajaan ketika mengurangkan subsidi dan menaikkan pelbagai tarif ialah mahu mengelakkan negara daripada terus mengalami peningkatan defisit dalam kewangan negara.
Alasan ini, seperti juga seperti sekian banyak alasan – saya sifat sebagai menafikan daya intelektual rakyat atau dengan kata lainnya menganggap rakyat Malaysia ini bodoh-bodoh belaka.
Sebelum ini pun telah banyak alasan seumpamanya keluar dari mulut para menteri yang kebanyakannya berpendidikan tinggi. Antara contohnya ialah jika harga ayam mahal, jangan makan ayam, subsidi gula dikurangkan (harga gula naik) kerana mahu elakkan rakyat kena kencing manis, subsidi minyak dikurangkan (harga minyak naik) tetapi masih rendah berbanding negara jiran, dan banyak lagi – terkini, kalau tak nak guna tol, guna jalan biasa.
Pelik bin ajaib! Itu sahaja yang dapat saya katakan.
Disebalik alasan ini, sebahagian besar rakyat tahu bahawa defisit dalam kewangan negara disebabkan kelemahan dan sifat tamak Umno-BN itu sendiri. Lihat sahaja laporan audit negara. Pelbagai ketirisan yang didedahkan. Malah ketirisan itu berlaku berulang kali tahun demi tahun.
Jika ketirisan yang terpapar dalam laporan audit negara itu dapat diatasi, kewangan negara tidak mungkin mengalami defisit.
Itu yang dilaporkan dalam laporan audit negara! Bagaimana pula ketirisan yang tidak tercatat di situ? Mungkin lebih banyak lagi. Sepatutnya, negara yang dikurniakan dengan pelbagai sumber alam ini menjadi kaya raya dan mewah sama ada kerajaan mahupun rakyatnya!
